1Accepting these Terms
By downloading, installing or using Mirror, you agree to these Terms, to the Privacy Policy and to the AI Use Disclosure. If you do not agree, do not use the app and delete it from your device.
These Terms are between you and Artem Lapshin, an individual operating Mirror as Native Apps Team, Toronto, Ontario, Canada They are not with Apple.
2Age
You must be at least 18 to use Mirror. The app photographs your face and asks about your skin and your health, and it is built for adults. If you are under 18, you may not use it, and you should delete it. The app asks your age and stops if the answer is under 18; it does not check identification.
3Mirror is Cosmetic, Not Medical
This is the most important thing in this document.
Mirror is a cosmetic and educational tool. It is not a medical device, it is not regulated as one, and it has not been evaluated by Health Canada, the FDA or any other authority. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. It deliberately does not produce a score, a grade, a skin age, or a percentage, and it deliberately will not name a condition.
Mirror cannot see skin cancer, and it is not looking for it. A mole, a spot, a lesion or a patch that is new, changing, bleeding, itching or otherwise worrying is a matter for a doctor, and nothing Mirror says about a zone of your face is evidence that anything is fine.
If you have a skin condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, are taking a prescription treatment, or are unsure, talk to a physician or a pharmacist. Do not use Mirror in place of that conversation, and do not delay it because of something Mirror said.
4You Use It at Your Own Risk
Your use of Mirror is voluntary and you knowingly assume the risk of it. Skincare products can irritate, sensitise and cause allergic reactions, including products that suit most people and products you have used before. Patch test anything new. Read the label. Stop using something that hurts.
Mirror's suggestions are generated from what you told it and what it read, and they can be wrong about your skin. You are the one deciding what to put on your face.
5Your Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Mirror on Apple devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, in accordance with the App Store Terms of Service.
You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app except to the extent that law expressly permits it; rent, lease, lend, sell or sublicense it; remove any proprietary notice; use it to build a competing product; scrape or bulk-extract its content or its catalogue; use it through an automated system; or attempt to circumvent any limit, quota or paywall in it.
6Your Content
Your photographs, your diary entries and everything else you put into Mirror remain yours. We claim no ownership of any of it.
You are responsible for what you put in, and for having the right to put it in: do not photograph another person's face without their agreement.
You grant us only the narrow, temporary licence needed to make the features work as described in the AI Use Disclosure: to transmit the scan crops, photographs, messages and details you send to the AI providers named there, receive the answer, and return it to you. That licence ends when the request ends. We do not use your content to train anything.
7AI Features
Mirror uses third-party AI models, from Google and from Anthropic, for several features, including the skin read, reading and tidying product photos, and Mira's chat. What is sent, what is not, and what the limits are is set out in full in the AI Use Disclosure, which forms part of these Terms.
AI output can be wrong. Treat everything Mirror says as a starting point to check, not a conclusion to act on. We may change AI providers or models at any time, and you have no entitlement to any particular provider, model, feature, quota or business model.
8Subscriptions and Payment
Mirror offers an optional auto-renewing subscription, Mirror Plus, in two plans: yearly and weekly. The yearly plan begins with a free introductory period for first-time subscribers; the weekly plan does not. Prices are shown in the app at the point of purchase, in your local currency, and are set by us and by Apple.
All purchases are made through Apple's in-app purchase system. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. You can manage and cancel in your Apple ID settings at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, and we cannot issue partial refunds for unused time.
If you do not cancel before a free introductory period ends, you will be charged the regular price. Any unused portion of a free period is forfeited when a subscription is purchased.
Refunds are handled by Apple, under Apple's policies. We have no ability to issue a refund directly. Prices may change with notice in the app; continued use after a price change is acceptance of it.
9Commerce and Paid Links
Mirror may earn a commission when you buy a product through a link in the app or on this site. When it does, the link is labelled before the recommendation it belongs to, never in a footnote underneath.
Whether a product can be monetised is stored separately from everything that decides whether it suits you, and suitability is always decided first. Commission never puts a worse fit above a better one. It is used only to break ties, as the affiliate disclosure explains. If something already on your shelf does the job, Mirror says so and recommends nothing.
A price Mirror estimates says "about", as in "about $18", because it is our estimate. A price a shop listed in its own feed is shown as listed, beside the shop's name, and may have changed since we read it. The retailer sets the actual price, and the retailer's terms govern anything you buy. We are not the seller and we are not a party to that sale. The full policy is on the affiliate disclosure page.
10Acceptable Use
Do not use Mirror to break the law; to upload another person's photograph without their agreement; to attack, overload, probe or reverse engineer our server or our rate limits; to resell or redistribute its content or its catalogue; or to misrepresent what it says about your skin to anyone else.
11Availability and Change
Mirror is in active development. Features may be added, changed, restricted or removed at any time, with or without notice. The AI features depend on third-party services and on our own budget for them, and can be unavailable. We do not promise uptime.
12Disclaimers
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE OR SECURE, THAT ITS OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE, OR THAT ANY DEFECT WILL BE CORRECTED. WE MAKE NO REPRESENTATION THAT THE APP IS FIT FOR ANY MEDICAL, DIAGNOSTIC, CLINICAL OR REGULATED PURPOSE.
13Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, GOODWILL, OR FOR ANY PERSONAL INJURY, SKIN REACTION, IRRITATION OR WORSENING OF ANY CONDITION, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE APP, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE APP WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO US THROUGH APPLE FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) FIVE CANADIAN DOLLARS (CAD $5.00).
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and nothing deprives you of a mandatory consumer protection right you have where you live.
14Apple
These Terms are concluded between you and us only, and not with Apple Inc. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for Mirror and its content. Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support for it.
In the event of any failure of the app to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for the app to you, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the app.
We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to the app, including product liability claims, any claim that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation. We, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of any third-party intellectual property infringement claim.
You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a United States Government embargo or designated as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you are not on any United States Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and upon your acceptance of them Apple will have the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
15Termination
You may stop using Mirror at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms. Termination does not entitle you to a refund of any unused subscription period; that is between you and Apple.
16Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in it, without regard to conflict of laws principles. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
Before starting a proceeding, write to us and give us sixty (60) days to resolve it. Anything not resolved goes to the courts of Toronto, Ontario, and you and we consent to their exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident somewhere this clause is not enforceable, it applies only to the extent your local law permits.
17General
Entire agreement. These Terms, the Privacy Policy and the AI Use
Disclosure are the whole agreement between us about Mirror.
Severability. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest survives.
No waiver. Not enforcing something once does not waive it.
Assignment. You may not assign these Terms; we may, on notice.
Feedback. If you send us an idea, we may use it freely and owe you nothing
for it.
Changes. We update the version and effective date at the top when these
Terms change materially. Continued use is acceptance.
